Karlie Hustle Power98

What’s good, Phoenix! Wow…time sure flies. I can’t believe I’m now in my third year in the valley! I remember when I first touched down, scarred and bruised from a bad radio experience in San Diego, and had no idea I’d fall right into the arms of one of the dopest cities in America. Phoenix has been amazing thus far, and I look forward to spending three more years with my Power fam and listeners.

For all the folks who check me out daily from 10am to 2pm, love is love! I appreciate every one of you for continuing to support me with your time, phone calls, emails and MySpace messages. Each one of you means a lot to me. I know you could be doing anything from watching TV to rockin’ your iPod to surfing the net, but you choose to spend a part of your day with me. And that’s just fresh.

I’d have to say that my favorite part of the day is the noon hour. The Original Old School at Noon is a staple in the valley, and you have made it one of the most listened-to hours on the station. M2 in the mix, hip-hop and R & B from the 90’s, and no commercials for an entire hour!? You just can’t get that anywhere else. And let’s not forget about West Coast Wednesdays…you already know! Throw your dubs up!

Now that all that’s out of the way, I’ll tell you a little about myself. If you’ve gotten this far, you might as well learn a tidbit or two about this wacky Mid-Day chick. I’ve been in the industry about seven years, working my way up from street promotions to Mid-Days and Assistant Program Director here at Power. I’ve lived in four cities (Portland, Salinas, San Diego and Phoenix), and have worked at four radio stations (Jammin 95.5 in Portland, 102.5 KDON in Salinas/Monterey/Santa Cruz, Jammin Z90 in San Diego, and here at Power 98.3 in Phoenix). Needless to say, I’ve been around the “radio block”, so to speak. I’ve done mornings, mid-days, afternoons, nights, overnights, mix show, worked in a radio research department, was a promotions director, was on the street team, and am now the APD. Not in that order. LOL. To make a long story short, I started out stickering bumpers and lugging tents, and look how far I’ve come! It was a lot of moving and hard work, but the lessons I’ve learned about myself and others have been immeasurable.
