Helpful tips for you and your child1.) Be sure to have a family “fire escape procedure” in place in case of an emergency. Make sure everyone in the house is aware of this procedure. Your family needs to act out this plan so if at any time a fire is in your home, you and your family are fully prepared!
2.) Pre-school aged children are vunerable to getting e-colli and other food-borne illnesses. Be sure to keep all potential hazardous foods out of the reach of your child. Also, it is very improtant to clean all areas used to cook and prepare foods with a disinfectant.
3.) A fun project for you and your child is to make your very own “first aid” kit! This will not only teach your child where this kit is located, and what items are in it but you and your child will have fun making the kit as well!
4.) It is VERY important to protect your child against the sun’s harmful rays. Be sure to always put at least a spf of 15 on your child 30 minutes prior to any kind of sun exposure. Starting this routine at an early age is a good way of setting a good example for your child in his or her future!
5.) Make sure when taking your child to a playground that you inspect all the equipment first. Playgrounds should be checked that everything is properly anchored and ladders are not missing any steps e.t.c.
6.) Also, when taking your child out to a playground make sure to check out the sandbox. Sandbox’s can be notorious for collecting trash,glass and cigarette butts. If a child is exposed to any one of these it could be very hazardous to your little one.
7.) When playing outside, remember that if your child is wearing scented lotion,bright colored clothing and any kind of flowered patterns, this can attract insects very easily. Regaurdless of taking precausions, always be prepared for a bug bite or any kind of rash from plants,grass e.t.c.
8.) When going on vacation with your little one, be sure to ask the front desk before booking a room if they child proof their rooms. If not, you may want to consider finding a hotel that does offer child proof hotel rooms!
9.) Make sure when taking your child on a picnic that you keep any potential hazardous foods at a temperature of 40 degrees. Any thing above this can potentially put any meats and dairy products at risk for bacterial growth.

Free kids events in Phoenix1.) Take your kids fishing in Kiwanis Park in Tempe! With 125 acres and a huge recreation center there’s always plenty to do there!
2.) Have your kids ever seen petroglyphs? Take your child on a hike on the Warterfall Trail in the west valley. Make sure to bring water and light snacks. Mabye a good idea during Arizona’a spring or early fall!
3.) Take the kids swimming! You can go to one of the many community pools phoenix has, and if your little one is too young to swim, you can always take the kids to a splash pad, or splash playground!
4.) Arizona summers can be very hot and your little one might not feel up to being outdoors. With the many malls the valley has to offer, bring your child to one of the many indoor play areas! Arrowhead Mall in Glendale, Chandler Fashion Center in Chandler and Superstition Springs mall are just a few that off a great place for your child to run around and blow off some steam!
5.) On a warm summer evening take your child to one of the many minor league baseball games! The “Arizona Rookie League” plays in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Goodyear, Peoria and Surprise! There is no charge to watch!
