Starlight Children's Foundation is a national nonprofit organization with more than 25 years of experience serving seriously ill children. Our mission is to help seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear, and isolation through entertainment, education, and family activities. In 2006, Starlight Arizona was established to better serve the state's sickest children and facilitate local expansion, beginning primarily in Maricopa County. Starlight had served Arizona's' local communities since 1993 through our hospital-based programs, but establishing a local presence enabled us to raise community awareness, collaborate with other organizations, garner local support for our long-standing hospital-based programs and introduce Starlight's Great Escapes family activities program to the community. Arizona's first Great Escape was held in July of 2006; the program has expanded rapidly throughout the county, and now serves more than 258 families (1,225 individuals) in the surrounding metropolitan areas. The Starlight Arizona team includes two staff, offices home-based in Maricopa County, a Leadership Council (advisory / fundraising committee), Young Professional Group, and many passionate mission focused volunteers. Arizona touches the lives of more than 72,000 children annually across all programs statewide. 100% of donations benefit seriously ill children/families in Arizona!
